Genesis 1:1-2

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. [2] The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.     

Introduction to Genesis 1-11     

• Who wrote Genesis?      

• Who was the original audience?        

• In what “style” is Genesis written?        

• What the purpose of Genesis 1-11?     

The message of Genesis 1:1-2     

• God always was (The eternal being).      

• God created out of nothing (ex nihlo).      

• God was and is personally involved with creation.      

• We are answerable to God, because He made us.     

Application of Genesis 1:1-2     

    Q. 1. Who made you?
    A. God.     

    Q. 2. What else did God make?
    A. God made all things.     

    Q. 3. Why did God make you and all things?
    A. For his own glory.     

    Q. 4. How can you glorify God?
    A. By loving him and doing what he commands.     

    Q. 5. Why ought you to glorify God?
    A. Because he made me and takes care of me.
